1998--2007 A Chorus of Fear: VIDEO: Wille James Williams, Valdosta-Lowndes County Jail 1998 Death!

Video "A Chorus of Fear," Death of Willie James Williams in 1998 in Valdosta-Lowndes County. The death galvanized 2,000 citizens for the cause of justice. The local media reported 1,500. But I personally counted each person and I counted 2,000
plus.

The Valdosta City Mayor, every Councilman and every member of the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners including the then Chairman were given a personal copy of this VIDEO. But no action have been taken by our elected officials as I understand it of this death...

It is strange that eighteen deaths have occurred in Valdosta-Lowndes County Jail in the land of the free and the home of the graves in the Twenty-First Century? While America’s News Media refuse to pick-up the story, investigate, and report to the public.

2007---Valdosta and Lowndes County New Jail (???)

Citizens of Vald0sta-Lowndes County
Touring of New Jail!
(Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony)

On November 26, 2006 The Valdosta Daily Times (VDT) reported, “Citizen can tour the New Jail before its official opening.” It will house more inmates using less man-hour. The current facility was originally built to handle only 200 inmates but it is now accommodating 700 with another article stating up to 800. (Published July 08, 2006 11:14 pm – VALDOSTA) http://www.valdostadailytimes.com/siteSearch/apstorysection/local_story_329225545.html

The Times reported that the county have completed a very essential and state of the art facility. The project was completed almost two months before its expected completion date. It came in under budget at $4,482.437. The county originally budgeted more than $8.2 million for the first phase, which included, booking, medical, kitchen, laundry, and additional administrative facilities. The second phase will complete the new housing facilities for prisoners.

Then on November 30th the VDT headlines was “Citizens Tour New Jail.” http://www.valdostadailytimes.com/siteSearch/apstorysection/local_story_334002544.html
Both article seem to be misleading to the general pubic, inmates, parents, love ones, concerned citizens and children that have lost friends and relatives in the jail----to the tune of eighteen. With inmates indicating that even more have died but not reported by local media. http://gajaildeaths.blogspot.com/2007/01/deaths-in-or-surrounding-valdosta-and.html

Now on December 31st, 2006. Page 5A, Article 9 headlines was; “Valdosta-Area Stories of 2006.” Jail expansion opened.

The times HEAD LINES should have said during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. That this was only an EXPANSION and did not include the actual ill living areas of inmates. The alleged abuses, deaths, and 700 or more AMERICAN CITIZENS living in a jail originally designed to hold 200 inmates in 1950s.

These ill conditions have been documented for nearly three decades, and casts a White mark on our community, and the State of Georgia. With little to no questions asked by faith based organizations, politicians, veteran’s administration, local, or state media outlets etc. Even though local civil rights organizations and the Lake Park Post have provided much information to many governmental bodies, media outlets, and elected officials on the issues.

Yet 700 citizens have been living in a jail designed for only 200 inmates for decades. At least during the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov 29, and in the VDT, Capt J.D. Yeager of the Sheriffs Department tried to set the record straight by saying. There is a misconception in our community. That this is a cure all for the problems at this facility. This is only the first phase and it could take up to three years to complete the actual living quarters of inmates.

Here again, citizens are not getting information that will educate, and cultivate their minds in this Metropolitan Metropolis. This includes the Officers and Airmen stationed at Moody Air Force Base, students attending Valdosta State University, Valdosta State Technical College, Wild Adventure and our Industrial Complex. I believe South Georgia High Tech Mass Media Networks could do much better in the 21st Century. How sad?
